The Crackle of a Fire

ImageIn the Mountains of NC there are just some things that are so simple, but so enjoyable. One of those things is the crackle of an open fire, whether that fire is sitting beneath the hearth warming the faces of a family, or dancing to the beat of a campfire jam session under the stars. The fire that I am talking about is fueled by harvested wood, not from a propane tank sitting outside, there is a huge difference between these two types of fires. the difference is not necessarily the quality of heat that they provide, but the unmatched ambiance that is created from a wood fueled fire.

In the Appalachian mountains today there are not as many homes solely heated by an open wood fire anymore, most homes have an alternate source of heat to accompany their fireplace. However, there is still something about sitting back, relaxing, starring at dancing flames while enjoying the company of those around you that needs to experienced by all. You may not understand why you would want to lite a fire in the home you are going to have to sleep in later, most people try to avoid such situations, and if you are not comfortable with controlling a fire then make sure there is someone there who is.

Marshmallows turning golden brown, hands being warmed, stories being told, hot chocolate and coffee simmering, and smiles being shared are just some of the great things that come along with the crackle of a fire. We hope that you will get to experience this simple gift at some point, and really have time to take in the amazing ambiance that is created when you combine oxygen, fuel, and heat!

We will see you in the mountains soon!

Holidays in a Cabin?

Every year more and more families decide that singling out one person in the family to host the holiday get together is not fair, and that is why many families are choosing to rent a luxury cabin in the mountains to have their holiday gathering at. This idea relieves any one person from having to clean up their house and prepare for the in-laws and that great aunt that you can never please, and no one has to deep clean the house after everyone leaves. This can take a lot of the stress away from the traditional get-together and allows for everyone to have an equally good time without all the worrying.

Renting a cabin for the annual holiday gathering in a central location also eases the burden of one side of the family having to travel extremely far, if you meet in the middle all attendees can have about the same driving time which also goes back to lessening the stress that comes along with the holidays.

Many families are on the fence about this idea and may feel that it takes away part of the warm and cozy feeling of being at someones house. However, if you really dwell on the idea for a moment it is not the house we are in that makes our holiday gatherings warm and cozy, it is the people that we are with! Having a beautiful, warm, rustic cabin to get together in dose not hurt though, and that is where Yellow Rose Realty can help you out, check out their selection of 60+ cabins available for rent during the upcoming holidays, and think about lessening the stress this holiday season!

Favorite Cabin Amenities

When it comes to picking out a cabin that is going to help make you vacation the best it possibly can be what are the things that are required to do so? There are many different cabins that offer many different things, from comforts of home to endless home entertainment options. Below is a list of things that many of our cabins have and are usually the things people ask about when booking a cabin with us. Do you think these items make or break a cabin stay?

1. A View:

The mountains of North Carolina are know for the gorgeous views and View-from-Hottub-2everyone that stays in a rental cabin expects to get an amazing view, no matter what cabin they rent. However, what you have to understand about amazing views is that they usually come from the top of mountains which requires navigating a steep, narrow, winding road that leads to the cabin. These kinds of roads are normal for locals that live and work around them, but when you get someone who was expecting a quality paved road with guardrails then you get some surprised people. Cabins with views are also located further away from town and the activities that town has to offer, so it is hard to have both town access and great views. Even with all of the crazy driving that you might have to do the cabins that boast having these amazing views are amazing and provide guests with a unique since of tranquility and relaxation that you will not get in a hotel.

2. A Hot Tub

One of the most popular requests we get is if the cabin has a hot tub or not. Now days you will not find many cabins that do not have a hot tub, it is almost required if you want to be a rental option for most guests. Do hot tubs make a vacation more enjoyable though? They are a great place for the family to hang out after a day outside and relax and talk, or they can be a great item to keep the teenagers out of the house for a little peace and quiet, and the addition of a hot tub offering does not change the rental price all that much so if I were renting a cabin on the mountains I think hot tub would be one of the things on my list of wanted amenities. How about you?

Screen Shot 2013-06-20 at 10.47.13 AM3. Game Room/Pool Table/Man Cave

Many people think of a basement filled with a card table, pool table, foosball table, ping pong table, darts, and an endless supply of board games. Rooms like this can keep the family and especially the kids entertained for hours on end and can be essential for a big group renting a cabin. I personally do not find this a requirement for a cabin I was going to rent, however, I do love to play pool and that table would get used. Some house even have a wet bar that they offer to guests that are over the age of 21. This is a great amenity for those groups that are more adult couples or friends that are looking to entertain rather than families on vacation together. When it comes to the game room what do you think cabins should offer guests, and should all cabins have some sort of games available for renters?

4. Close to town

Vacationers to the mountains vary in their opinions about being out in the secluded beauty of nature or being close to all of the restaurants an activities that the nearby town has to offer. Many renters want the best of both worlds, and luckily for them most of our Yellow Rose Realty cabins can accommodate that request. For me I would like to be as far away for the hustle and bustle as I could and have the most perfect view encompassed by only the sounds of nature, but that is just me. The great thing about renting a cabin is that you get to find what works for you group or family and it does not matter what I would do.

These are a few of the things that come in to play when it comes to booking a vacation rental in the mountains. If there are things that you think are required that I missed please post them in a comment below. We would love to hear from you about what makes your vacation rental experience the most enjoyable when it come to the offered amenities.

See you in the mountains soon!

Cabin or Hotel?

Why to choose a Cabin rental over a hotel stay:

Screen Shot 2013-06-20 at 10.46.26 AMFrom growing up in the mountains the first thing I think about when I hear the word vacation is a high-rise hotel right on the beach. Why? Well because that is what we did every year, not because it was the best value, but because we had done it all those times before and it was routine. However, we did eventually move our family vacations over to a vacation rental because of the reasons below and more, and we have some of the best memories from the times where we rented a house, the experience was much more personal and it felt like a second home.

note: (Families who live in the mountains go to the beach  for vacation, and families that live at the beach come to the mountains) This tends to be the norm.

When you come to the mountain on your vacation in the near future we hope you consider all the reasons below and rent not a hotel room, but a relaxing and spacious cabin. Here are some factors which make staying in a Yellow Rose Realty Cabin a better choice than your regular hotel stay:

  • Spacious: The cabins are more spacious than a regular hotel room. They have separate rooms which means that everyone in your group is free to spend their time anyway they want. The balance of personal space, family space, and the beautiful outdoors will make you stay as comfortable as your own home.
  • Amenities: Today most rental cabins come with all the necessary amenities. You will find all the modern appliances, kitchen equipment, comfortable furniture, Television, DVD player, Hot Tub, Pool Table, Large decks and patios, amazing views, and much more.
  • Affordable: Comparing the rental cost for a cabin, which has multiple rooms, with the expenses of just one hotel room can give you a clear idea that how cost-effective and beneficial it is to rent a cabin rather than a hotel. Plus, all the extras that a hotel has you have to share with strangers!

Screen Shot 2013-06-20 at 10.47.13 AMFor people who love being surrounded by the outdoors and having the option of cooking their own meals and hanging out without random strangers beside you should really look in to renting a cabin/house for your next vacation. Yellow Rose Realty would love to help you find the perfect cabin for you vacation as well as help with any other questions about the Western North Carolina Area you may have!
